Deluxe Low Fat Desserts to Make at Home
When you are trying to lose weight, not being able to eat the sweet treats that you crave can be a real downer! For those of you with a sweet tooth, here are two decadent low-fat desserts that are worthy of gracing any diner's dinner table, whether they are dieting or not!
Pears Poached in Red Wine.
Place 2 cups of dry red wine, 1/2 cup of sugar, a cinnamon stick and 1 cup water, in a pan and simmer until the sugar dissolves. Then throw in three pears (that have been peeled, cored and cut into halves), cover and simmer for 10 minutes. Take out the pears, then bring liquid to a boil for about 30 minutes until it has turned to a syrup (should give you about 1/2 a cups worth). Drizzle the syrup over the pears and serve with a little ice-cream. This should serve 6 people, so is great as a special occasion low-fat dessert.
Pineapple Upside Down Cake.
Oil a 9-inch square pan and preheat the over to 350 degrees. Sprinkle a tablespoon of sugar into pan, then layer canned pineapple rings or slices on the bottom. Mix together 1 cup all-purpose flour, 1/2 cup wholewheat flour, 2 teaspoons baking powder, 1/2 teaspoon baking soda and 1/2 teaspoon salt in a bowl. In another bowl, whisk 3/4 cup low-fat buttermilk, 2 large eggs, 3/4 cup sugar, 1 tsp vanilla extract and 1/3 cup vegetable oil. Add in the flour mixture, stir until just combined (don't overmix) then pour batter over pineapple slices. Cook for an hour, then let cool for 20 minutes before removing from pan. Recipe makes 8 servings.

Pineapple Upside Down Cake
I am going to have to modify this recipe for one because it is my absolute favorite dessert and I live in a household where the other two people think pineapple should never be baked or added to a recipe in any way! Perhaps I'll have to have a celebration at some point of the challenge and invite some friends to share the cake with me!!
sugar
Yikes, they have a lot of sugar! How about a whole wheat crepe with fruit? Cut the top off an apple, core it, sprinkle cinnamon and other spices like clove, nutmeg etc into it and then bake it. I'm not much of a dessert person anyway but I would prefer a fruit salad or something like that anyway.
Oh thats awesome that there
