1) Be careful with salad toppings, especially when you eat out. You might think that salad is a healthy choice, but if it is sprinkled with blue cheese, croutons, bacon bits, dried fruit etc, it could be a catastrophic choice for your waistline! Ask your server to half the amount of toppings, and dressing, on your salad to lower the calorie count substantially.
2) Eat more fibre. Recent research showed that those who doubled the amount of fibre in their diets naturally consumed about 100 calories less a day. Fibre fills you up, and helps your digestive system, so try to up the amount you are eating.
3) Replace cream with yoghurt when cooking. Many recipes that call for cream taste just as good when you use yoghurt instead, and doing so will save you many calories.
4) If you do order a soda at a chain restaurant, make it a kiddie size one. Although it would be better just to ask for water, if you do desperately need that cola or juice, anti supersize it to lower the number of liquid calories you’ll consume.
5) Swap your burger for veggie burger. Most veggie burgers have 100 calories fewer than a regular hamburger.
6) Make your omelet with egg whites. By only using the egg whites to make a 2 egg omelet, you’ll save about 100 calories. (You could use 1 yolk and 2 whites, this still saves you 50 calories.)
7) Use salsa instead of butter to season all kids of foods. You can pour salsa, which can be virtually fat free (check the label), to pour over fish or baked potatoes as a delicious seasoning.
8) Make lower fat tuna sandwiches by nixing mayo in favour of mustard. It may be a bit more of an acquired taste, but mixing up your tuna with mustard adds hardly any calories.
9) Forget about eating bagels. Bagels are dense and can be pretty high in calories, you are much better off eating 2 slices of whole-wheat toast.
10) Try balsamic vinegar instead of salad dressing. It tastes great and has only 10 calories per tablespoon.

Yogurt
Using yogurt for whipped cream and with cereal is something that I have done for a while. i think that I will try mustard and tuna. One of the best way to minimize calories is to drink water if it it potable rather than any other fluid.
Dressing
I LOVE hot sauce on a spinach salad! I use the asian chili sauce on everything I eat!
Salsa
You can make your own raw salsa that tastes incredible and can be used for topping everything from potatoes to a salad dressing. It adds color and flavor and best of all loads of fresh veggies and fiber. It is interesting also to make mango salsa to put on fish or anything else for that matter. I will put the recipe on the recipe site.
SALSA!
I put salsa on EVERYTHING! It's my favourite!
Salad toppings!!!
I attended a function on Friday night and I did not eat supper at the function resulting in stopping at McDonalds for a salad on my way home. I ordered the Asian grilled chicken salad. I waited until I was home before I ate it, sure glad I did. The crunchy topping and the Renee's salas dressing that was provided contained a combination of 10grams of fat as well as 180 calories. I skipped that and ate the salad minus toppings.
Scary!!
i have never been one for
i have never been one for salad dressing i prefer i guess dry sald lol although i have been adding abit of " healthy fat to some of my salads from time to time like a bit of evoo or a tiny bit of cocnut oil yum!
Coconut oil
In what form do you get coconut oil? I do not think that I have ever seen it.
ideas
Some of that I already knew, but tuna and mustard sounds interesting, because I like sardines in mustard- but oily!
Mixing a dash of tabasco sauce in plain yogurt makes a great topping for fish or veg.
Regarding fibre - I understand fibre from fruit and veg, but I've been wondering about grain/cereal fibre. I always think of it as being hi in carbs and calories, so I generally avoid it. However, if I'm going to eat bread, etc, it would only be whole-grain birdseed bread.
Tuna salad
I mix 1 can of tuna with a bit of celery, a tbsp of sweet relish and 2 laughing cow light cheese triangles instead of mayo. Yummy, sweet and creamy just like the one mixed with mayo.
Tuna salad recipe
Do you melt the cheese to complete the mixture?
